A Forgotten Covenant, a Nation at Crossroads

Every time a new king arises who does not know Joseph, a nation forgets the covenant that once blessed it. In biblical Egypt, it marked the beginning of oppression. In modern nations, it marks the decay of righteous memory.

Exodus 1 opens with a shift of governance—from remembrance to repression. It is the same spiritual pattern confronting Papua New Guinea today: when fear replaces covenant, policy becomes the new instrument of bondage.

Policies That Masquerade as Wisdom

Pharaoh never launched war—he launched policy. His fear of Israel’s growth produced decrees that turned fruitfulness into threat. “Let us deal shrewdly with them,” he said.

Every age of history has seen this same deception: control disguised as reform, fear wrapped in the language of national security. Bondage begins in boardrooms and bureaucracies before it ever reaches battlefields.

Today’s parallels are subtler but real—systems designed to abort purpose, silence truth, and cripple moral leadership before it matures. Yet God always hides His next move inside what looks like a national crisis.

A Mirror for Papua New Guinea

Exodus 1 mirrors our own national story. PNG’s covenant calling to be “the Richest Black Christian Nation on Earth” demands memory—memory of Joseph, memory of righteous governance, memory of divine purpose. When that memory fades, foreign systems fill the vacuum.
