Advertising & Sponsored Content Policy
Effective Date: 1 January 2025
Last reviewed November 2025
1. Purpose
Advertising helps support PNG Herald’s operations and allows us to provide free access to trusted, quality journalism.
We accept advertising and sponsorship only under strict ethical and editorial standards that protect our readers’ trust and the integrity of our news coverage.
This policy outlines how advertising, sponsored content, and commercial partnerships are handled on the PNG Herald platform.
2. Editorial Independence
All advertising and sponsored material are completely independent of editorial decision-making.
The PNG Herald editorial team retains full authority over all published journalism.
Advertisers, sponsors, or donors cannot influence news selection, tone, or reporting priorities.
Any paid or promoted content must comply with PNG Herald’s Editorial & Ethics Policy and uphold the same standards of accuracy, fairness, and integrity.
3. Types of Advertising Accepted
PNG Herald may display:
- Display ads (banner or sidebar ads)
- Sponsored posts or features (clearly labelled as paid content)
- Partner campaigns or branded series (where disclosed and relevant to public interest)
- Membership or promotional listings through WooCommerce or Paid Memberships Pro
We do not accept advertising for:
- Illegal, misleading, or deceptive products
- Gambling, pornography, weapons, or hate-related material
- Politically partisan campaigns or content promoting corruption
- Any entity that conflicts with PNG Herald’s mission of positive, non-corrupt governance
4. Sponsored and Branded Content
When we publish paid or partner content, it will always be clearly identified with visible labels such as:
“Sponsored,” “Paid Feature,” “Partner Story,” or “Advertiser Content.”
Sponsored content must:
- Be relevant and of value to our audience
- Meet our editorial style and factual accuracy requirements
- Never be disguised or presented as independent reporting
We reserve the right to reject or remove any sponsored content that does not align with our standards.
5. Separation of Advertising and Editorial
To preserve editorial credibility:
- The advertising team and editorial team operate separately.
- Advertising cannot appear within or alter the content of independent news articles.
- Native advertising (paid content styled like editorial) must always carry clear visual and textual distinction.
6. Accuracy and Responsibility
Advertisers are responsible for ensuring their content is accurate, lawful, and compliant with advertising standards.
PNG Herald will not be held responsible for claims made in advertisements, though we will remove misleading or unethical material when identified.
We may review, refuse, or request modification of any advertisement at our discretion.
7. Data and Targeting
PNG Herald may use anonymised analytics data to understand audience trends and improve advertising relevance.
We do not share personally identifiable user information with advertisers or third parties without consent.
Advertising partners must also comply with our Privacy Policy and all applicable data protection laws.
8. Conflict of Interest
No editorial staff may personally solicit or negotiate advertising deals.
All commercial arrangements must go through PNG Herald’s business or partnerships team to maintain transparency.
9. Complaints About Advertising
If you believe an advertisement is misleading, unethical, or inappropriate, you can report it to:
📧 ads@pngherald.com
We will investigate and, if necessary, remove the content in question.
10. Policy Review and Updates
This policy is reviewed annually to ensure compliance with ethical, legal, and digital media standards.
Any updates will be published on this page with a revised date.
