The Last Witness of the First Cabinet Blesses Trigger555
Sir Yano Belo signs historic Foreword as PNG VISION4040 prepares to amplify the voices of Papua New Guinea’s Eight Prime Ministers-leading into 2027 National General Elections- PNG’s first elections after Jubilee
PORT MORESBY: One of the final living witnesses of Papua New Guinea’s Independence generation has placed his
signature and blessing over Trigger555—a new national leadership and governance platform preserving the voices of the eight Prime Ministers who led the country from 1975 to its 2025 Jubilee. Trigger555 also captures the visionary voices of a new generation of leaders rising after Jubilee 2025.
Sir Yano Belo officially signed his Foreword yesterday (9 September 2026) in Port Moresby, after meeting with representatives of PNG VISION4040. Staff member Keziah Waffi, presented the senior Stateman with the Foreword for his official signtaure as Trigger555 goes to print this week.
The moment carries deep national significance.
Sir Yano Belo, founding parliamentarian and PNG’s first Minister for Works and Housing, helped
shape the nation’s identity at Independence.
Alongside Sir Julius Chan, he championed the Kina as a national currency symbol—uniting Highlands and Coast in one economic vision. Sir Yano birthed the Kina concept and embedded its spirit and blood in his son, Kina Belo, who is still alive today.
Sir Yano’s voice after Jubilee is now calling a new generation of leaders forward, to impart in them an incorruptible spirit of leadership and governance. He belongs to the generation that witnessed the formation of the nation’s first Cabinet and helped lay the foundations of an independent Papua New Guinea.
Now, fifty years after Independence, Sir Yano’s Foreword will be published in TRIGGER555: Bleeding Whispers of Independence—the first volume of a landmark national publication bringing together the exclusive voices, reflections and leadership blueprints of PNG’s eight Prime Ministers.
Sir Yano’s signature is more than a formal endorsement. It is the blessing of a founding-generation
leader upon a platform designed to carry Papua New Guinea’s leadership conversation into the
next fifty years.
At the centre of Sir Yano’s Foreword are powerful reflections on the Kina, the loss of its purchasing power, the national economic consequences surrounding Bougainville, and the urgent need for Papua New Guinea to reset its economic foundations.
Sir Yano’s thoughts were initially captured by Publisher Christina Kewa-Swarbrick during an exclusive
Jubilee interview. In that conversation, Sir Yano reflected on the conception, birth, incubation,
growth, rise and decline of the Kina and Toea—calling attention to the deeper national decisions
that must now be faced if Papua New Guinea is to enter a new season of economic
transformation.
Sir Yano’s Foreword is therefore not simply a recollection of the past; It is a resolution for the future.
As Trigger555 amplifies the voices of Papua New Guinea’s Prime Ministers and visionary
leaders, Sir Yano’s contribution brings the long view of Independence itself. It connects the
dreams of 1975 to the responsibility of 2025—and to the economic choices that will shape the
nation through to 2075.
Trigger555 is a premium, historic national archive and leadership platform of PNG VISION4040.
Its purpose is to preserve leadership history while activating a serious national conversation
about governance, wealth creation, the Kina and Papua New Guinea’s next fifty years of
economic transformation.
Sir Yano Belo has now signed. The final witness of the first Cabinet generation has released his
The question before the nation is clear: will Papua New Guinea listen, learn and lead differently?

Tigger555 will be nationally launched by a panel of high end Visionary Leaders in a few weeks time, where Sir Yano Belo will be present to make a National Statement on PNG’s Reset and the Restoration of the Kina currency and its power.
