Corrections, Complaints & Retractions Policy
Effective Date: 1 January 2025
Last reviewed November 2025
1. Our Commitment
PNG Herald is committed to accuracy, fairness, and transparency in all its reporting.
We recognise that errors can occur, and we take all complaints seriously.
This policy outlines how readers can request corrections or raise editorial concerns, and how we handle them responsibly.
2. Guiding Principles
Our correction and complaints process follows these principles:
- Integrity: We own our mistakes and correct them promptly.
- Transparency: Corrections are clearly communicated to our readers.
- Respect: We handle all feedback professionally and confidentially.
- Accountability: Every valid complaint is reviewed by the editorial leadership.
3. Requesting a Correction or Retraction
If you believe that PNG Herald has published an error or misleading information, please contact us via:
📧 editor@pngherald.com (for editorial corrections)
📧 admin@pngherald.com (for general feedback)
Your message should include:
- The article title and publication date
- A brief explanation of the issue
- Any supporting evidence or references
We aim to acknowledge all correction requests within 5 business days and resolve legitimate issues as quickly as possible.
4. Correction Process
When an error is confirmed, PNG Herald will:
- Correct the content promptly (within the article or in a note below it).
- Acknowledge the correction clearly — e.g., “Correction: This article previously misstated…”
- Update social media or syndication posts if the error was shared elsewhere.
If the error is substantial (e.g., materially changes the meaning of the story), we may also issue a formal correction notice or editor’s statement on our Corrections page.
5. Retractions and Major Errors
In cases of serious factual inaccuracy, ethical breach, or false reporting, the Editor may issue a retraction.
Retractions are published prominently, with a clear explanation of:
- What was wrong
- Why the error occurred
- What has been done to correct or remove it
Retractions are considered a last resort but demonstrate our commitment to honesty and public trust.
6. Complaints About Editorial Conduct
If you wish to raise a complaint about our editorial behaviour, bias, or professionalism (beyond factual errors), please email:
📧 editor@pngherald.com with the subject line “Editorial Complaint”.
Complaints are reviewed by the Editor-in-Chief or a delegated senior editor.
Where appropriate, independent advisors or media professionals may be consulted to ensure fairness.
7. Complaints About Advertising or Sponsored Content
Complaints relating to advertisements, partner posts, or paid content should be sent to:
📧 ads@pngherald.com
See also our Advertising & Sponsored Content Policy for standards and processes.
8. Appeals
If you are dissatisfied with how your complaint was handled, you may request an independent review by emailing the Managing Editor or by resubmitting your complaint with additional context.
All appeals will be reviewed by senior management not previously involved in the matter.
9. Public Record of Corrections
PNG Herald may maintain a “Corrections & Updates” page listing all formal corrections and retractions for transparency.
Minor typographical or style edits that do not affect meaning are generally not listed.
10. Continuous Improvement
We treat every complaint as an opportunity to improve.
Feedback helps us maintain accuracy, strengthen ethical standards, and better serve our readers.
